Using a ruler make a large triangle on a page. Now measure the angles inside the triangle and add the measurements together.
Now, draw another triangle with a different shape. Measure the inside angles and add the measurements together.
What do you notice about the totals?
Will it work again?

Monday Message December 9
Each month we are focusing on one of the big ideas of Christian Schooling. This month we will be thinking about God Worshipping. How can we be God Worshippers?
Bible: Our new memory verse will be Ruth 1:16. We are having a test on Tuesday. I had given the students a test prep page on Thursay.
Science: This week we will be finishing our boxes and testing them.
On Friday we will be going to sing at a Manor in town. We will be playing our recorders there. Students will need their recorders on Thursday and Friday
Spelling: Lesson 15: WW1-6. WP 1-4. CW 1-2.

Reader's Theatre
Today we performed our reader's theatre plays. The plays were Wayside School, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, Berenstain Bears - Trouble at School. We made name tags for our characters. The grade 1's, and the grade 2/3's came to watch. We acted out some of the parts. Ms. Brunsveld said that we had good expression. It was fantastic to see the kids happy and laughing.
If we did this again we would do it differently. We could use more expression, and have more props. We might like to do it in front of the school on the stage. Costumes would make it look better. More acting would also make it more interesting. It will be much better if we make these cool changes.

Another News Article for Parents
In class we have been using Jump Math materials. I have used them for a few years and I really love how it works. The advantages are these:
1. It lets the students have confidence.
2. It has the students solve smaller problems.
3. Everyone gets it (so everyone is learning).
4. Students end up doing, and learning more Math.
There have been many articles published like the one in the National Post saying that current methods are failing students. (Read here.)
Here is a report on how Jump Math fared in a trial. (Read here.)
In the past 2 months I have already seen a change in many of the students' confidence and competence in Math.

An Article for Parents
I read an interesting interview about the value of parents in their children's education. You can find it at Macleans Magazine. Click Here.
